The Competency Areas as defined by the Wyoming Career Development Task Force

A diverse group of early childhood advocates has been busy at work since 1993 defining what experience and training teachers (providers) of young children need in the specialized area of early childhood. The wheel above is what has been developed from countless meetings with individuals like yourself from across the state and is offered to help explain why all the training sessions offered through CCECR define this all important factor. It is hoped that in the future, all training offered across the state will define where on the "wheel" the content of the training lies.  To assist you, CCECR will track all hours obtained in the different areas as  a member benefit at no cost to you!

I have come to a frightening conclusion. I am the decisive element in the classroom. It is my personal approach that creates the climate. It is my daily mood that makes the weather. As a teacher, I possess tremendous power to make a child's life miserable or joyous. I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal. In all situations it is my response that decides whether a crisis will be escalated or de-escalated, and the child humanized or dehumanized.      Maim Ginnott, 1977
