A LETTER FROM A FALCON

There was a time of the past when I came to be in thy capture.
I was afraid and feared that death may be at its time.
Kindness and gentleness did put away my fear and did open to me Curiosity,
of the creature called Man.

I listened, I studied, and for awhile I choose to be in thy service.
I flew free, but returned, as you ask of me.
I learned during that time not all of Man is dangerous or unkind.

My time with you was interesting and strange.
The time did come for me to return to my world, my own kind.
So, I did take leave of thy service.

If you should miss my presence in your midst,
think kindly, lovingly, of me, for
I am Freedom.

Know that I learned from you.

I shall in time expire, but know that I shall leave behind sons
and daughters of my feather, to fly free about my range,
Care for it as you Cared for me.

Know that I have memories of You.
